The Movement

Keeping marginalized populations unwell, sick, tired, overstimulated, and weak is an effective way to keep them oppressed.

Get Strong. Fitness Is Feminist.

The Movement Philosophy

We work to make fitness accessible, enjoyable, and relevant because every body needs to move and exercise to feel good.  In fact, we want you to fall in love with your body, feel strong and powerful and sexy, regardless of you size, ability, sex or gender.

Fall In Love With Your Body

You're Already Perfect

Feeling good and empowered in your body is not dependent on a particular body size, shape, gender, age, ability, and so on. We follow a Health At Every Size model of wellness.  While we support an individuals weight loss goals, we will never suggest or infer that someone needs to lose weight.  We know people can be healthy and physically fit and fat.

Your body is already perfect. It may not be like a model's body, but it does have everything it needs to feel strong.

The "fitness industrial complex" works to convince us that we must look a certain way to feel good. But, you can feel good in whatever body you're in. You have the right to exercise, to find strength, and tap into the  emotional flow and release movement brings. So, take up space!

Empowering Each Other

This IS Social Justice Work

We believe this work is foundational to social justice movements, and that feeling empowered in one’s body improves autonomy.  Because so many marginalized people have trauma related to their bodies, our company centers trauma-informed approaches to movement, health, and wellness.

We are also committed to justice for ourselves, including each instructor and trainer.  As a feminist business, we practice transparency, accountability, fair pricing, and profit-sharing. We approach our business and people with abundance; there is "enough pie" for everyone.  Whenever possible, we try to highlight, support, and uplift other feminist businesses (including "competitors") and creators through the products we offer, the media we make, and the music we play.

Your Right to Pleasure and Joy

Affirming Diversity, Pleasure, & Joy

We are an explicitly feminist and gender-affirming company. When it comes to gender and sexuality, we adopt a nonjudgmental, “sex-positive” attitude to all forms of expression, relationships, and identities.

Exercise and movement are connected to how we feel about our gender, how we look and feel as a woman, man, nonbinary person, etc. Its also connected to how we feel sexually, how we see ourselves as sexual beings.  We incorporate movement and sound to bring more pleasure and acceptance into our bodies.  So, we shake our butts in class (twerking encouraged!) and much of music is about empowerment.

Exercise changes how you feel in your body, which often translates to improved confidence and self-esteem.
